DPF DIESEL PARTICULAR FILTER

All modern diesel cars/vans come equipped with a DPF – Diesel particulate filter. The function of the DPF is to filter and remove out toxic particles out of the exhaust because they only have a finite capacity, this trapped soot periodically has to be emptied or 'burned off' to regenerate the DPF. Eventually the DPF filter becomes over clogged meaning it can no longer be cleaned, with this then puts strain on the engine causing the ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT to come on letting you know your dpf is now unusable.

symptoms of a blocked dpf

  • Harder / Failure to Start
  • Loss of power
  • Reduced throttle response
  • Limp Mode
  • Higher fuel consumption

what causes blocked dpf

  • Faulty / Failed Sensors
  • Faulty / Failed Swirl Flaps
  • Short Journeys
  • Faulty / Failed EGR Valve

 dpf FIX

  1. Provide the car with more power and better acceleration
  2. improve throttle response
  3. Increase Fuel Economy
  4. Resolve the DPF error in the car once and for all
  5. Reduce the exhaust gas temperature
  6. Longer service life

The removal of the dpf filter is illegal and will render the vehicle for " off-road use only"

We do not remove the filter itself- only the software for vehicles that will be  'Off-Road Usage only' ie trackday, motorsports, off-roading etc.

The law

Under the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulations 61(7) and 61A(3)) and the Road Traffic Act 1988 (Section 42) it is an offence to use on a road a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet.

The potential penalties are £1,000 for a car and £2,500 for a van, lorry or bus.
